IMG (Increasing Melanistic Gene)

The Increased Melanism Gene is a dominant mutation founded by Peter Kahl in 2007. In this mutation the animal gets darker after every shed.

I saw the first solid black snake in a Kevin McCurley video and I was SOLD! just the thought of owning a solid black snake had me excited. It took me over a year to track down an IMG I wanted, IMG being such a popular gene was in almost every big breeder's collection and there were numerous attempts to make the next new combo; but this led to a lot of genes in the mix which stray away form the original idea of an IMG which is a solid black snake !

Being here in Canada it was even harder to source the best of the best as there were only a handful of options available, but after a year of looking I came across a guy in a small town of British Columbia who purchased an IMG from the original litter of Peter Kahl and bred it to a nice Snow (Snow/ Anery) Motley male and had a litter of 12 babies with 6 of them being IMG. It took me alot of convincing but I ended up buying the 4 babies from the litter.

These babies were the darkest and the best examples of iMG I have seen anywhere, i started sourcing and buying the darkest examples of motley and Anery in order to breed them in the future. While I was planning the long game and making sure everything is on track, I came across an adult IMG Motley het Albino female posted by Pete Kahl sold 4 months ago, the female was over 5 feet long and I knew I have to have her ! it was a lot of convincing and work to get the Female, not to mention the insane price point I had to pay upfront. This female changed JB Exotics forever.

Within a year, I paired the original IMG Male het for Snow to the big IMG Motley Het for albino to prove Super IMG. My first litter with IMGxIMG wasn't a huge success and I only got 5 babies, 4 of them being IMG's (numbers were not enough to prove Super IMG).
